This day she is being sent to Scotland to find a man with exceptionally strong supernatural abilities,
including the ability to read minds. She accidentally gets the year and mode of dress wrong, but finds Bhreac Kerr Laochailan, just the man she was looking to find. She has another of her many visions and sees Kerr's brother killed and Kerr badly injured by the devil vampires. In another of her visions she sees a small little boy with her eyes and Kerr's red hair in the middle of the stream. He calls her Mother in Gaelic, then slips under the water in a sea of blood. She dives in and tries over and over to save him. Kerr lets her know that the child was not really there, but he knows it is a portend of their child's death. She is still a virgin when she meets Kerr. They hand-fast and declare their love, promising to marry.

There are more than the usual number of surprises, but this is a story where our heroes are not jealous of one another.

When she finds a dying man with supernatural abilities, she gives him a choice, bring their soul and reanimated body to Valhalla to train and hopefully win the coming war, or she will repair their body and they will live out the rest of their natural life. The vampires do not play fair. No choice is given, they just turn them into vampires who kill indiscriminately.

Oh, what a convoluted and many layered story Mandy weaves with this one! Many of you wanted a longer more complex story. Well, HERE IT IS!!

You'll meet good and very evil vampires, even one that switches sides to help Linnea. At the end of this episode, Kerr, Lucha, Corbin, Linnea, Valentino, Gregorias (Gregory)and Camille are all vampires. Most fight for good and hope to return one day to the light. We will need to wait IMPATIENTLY for Mandy's next episode!

This book was non-stop thrilling. Twists and turns will have your heart pounding. The first book was great. This one even better. But, yikes, it ended so abruptly I have whiplash and I want more. Lots more. There is so much story that needs to continue for many more books. So many characters. So many questions hanging in the air. My head is spinning. Book one and two are not enough. Talk about leaving the reader hanging! I'm impressed at how much substance there is in these books. It's not all romance, although that's at the center of the plot. There is so much more going on than just steamy sex. The romance part seemed more like part of a sentence instead of the entire plot. I don't really know how to explain it. Read both books and you will maybe understand what I'm trying to say.
I am so glad Mandy went back to this world. What a wonderful and complex story. I can't wait for the next one.
This book was amazing I loved the back story because I always wondered how the events of book one the Valkyrie happened. This book was a roller-coaster of emotions for me I was rooting for one person then another. I cannot wait for the next book to come out I know it will be utterly amazing. Ms Roth has done it once again and reigns supreme in her genre.
This book clearly should have been read before The Valkyrie. That order would have made the first book easier to read and comprehend. This story was emotional and entertaining. I couldn't put it down. This book had action and so much drama. With every romance and heartbreak you felt a complete array of emotions. I felt so bad for Linnea/Valerie by the end of the book. I now have to reread The Valkyrie so it can all make sense.
Devoured this and Valkyrie in one day; full of action, violence, and crazy mixed up love. Even though this is the second in this series it really expands on where the characters came from and explains a lot of the first book Valkyrie. I really enjoyed this series and hope it's continuation is on the back burner! It's easy to become invested in these characters as you follow them though pleasure and pain, it is a little different style then most of the other Mandy Roth books I've read but I think it is an excellent book. The only thing that I have an issue with is it still feels to open, there's no closure to the story as of now, hence my hope for further additions since my imagination is nowhere near as good as Ms. Roth's.
